New PhD Student Joins S2 Group at VU Amsterdam!

Hi-ya’ll! I’m Hiya, and I’ve just started my PhD in the Software and Sustainability (S2) group at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. I am co-supervised by Justus Bogner, Patricia Lago and Markus Funke. My research is part of the NWO GAT4ML project, where I focus on designing reusable green architectural tactics for modern ML-enabled systems, particularly for emerging paradigms such as LLM-based applications, RAG pipelines, and agent-based systems. The goal is to make these tactics more structured and actionable by curating them into a reusable form and supporting their selection during system design.

Before starting my PhD, I completed my MS by Research in Computer Science and Engineering from IIIT Hyderabad, India. My work has largely revolved around creating machine learning enabled systems that remain useful as the world around them changes. I’m particularly interested in designing adaptive and efficient ML systems that are mindful of their environmental impact.

Outside of research, I enjoy singing, clicking pictures and documenting little moments from everyday life :))
